4-H Green Communities Tree Planting

April 16 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Did you know that Illinois once held 14 million acres of trees but that number has dropped to 5 million due to modern development practices?  Illinois 4-H is partnering with the Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts Forestry Committee to address the decline of native oak savannas by planting 25 oak seedlings in counties across Illinois!

Gallatin County was selected to receive trees this year.  Bring your shovels, gloves and a willingness to dig some holes so we can get these little trees in the ground!  Hands-on community service, conservation and environmental education are key components of the 4-H Green Communities Tree Program.  Just like the line in the 4-H Pledge…”my hands to larger service…”, let’s serve “our club, our community, our country and our world!”  We are lucky to partner with organizations in our community like Soil and Water – thank you!
